2026 -2027 SYC Committee
Who’s your Committee?
New appointments for 2026-2027
Sandy James
Hi, I’m Sandy.
I spent the first 18 years of my career working in the banking industry before my family and I decided to take the leap and move to the UK. After a year abroad, we realised just how much we love South Africa, especially the lifestyle and wonderful weather, so we returned home.
Back in South Africa, I joined a company doing taxes, a role I enjoyed for 15 years. After that, I decided to start my own small business, which has given me the flexibility to manage my own time and enjoy a better work-life balance.
My family and I have been proud members of SYC for more than 10 years and see it as an important part of our future retirement plans. I’m looking forward to serving on the committee, as I believe it will provide valuable insight into the workings of SYC and allow me to contribute positively to the club’s continued success.
I’m excited to be involved and look forward to working with everyone.
Steve Wattleworth
After working for more than 45 years, first in civil engineering and later as an IT Manager, I am now enjoying retirement. I had been visiting SYC for around 14 years before deciding to purchase a stand there two years ago. Since then, I have also bought a Halcat and am looking forward to learning how to sail it properly. Im stating to get a bit slow on the mtb.
Over the years, I have served on a number of committees, including Body Corporates and a Tennis Club. I believe that all organisations and clubs rely on the involvement and support of their members to thrive. I hope to contribute my experience, time, and enthusiasm to help SYC continue to be a successful and enjoyable community for everyone.
