FACILITIES

• 100m waterfront for Cats & Power Boats (keelers to anchor on the water. Recommend heavy strong anchor as they will be anchored in the open water with no protection

• 10 acres of land with plenty of space for camping

• For the ladies. There are 2 showers with toilets in the outside ablution. Inside the house there is 1 bathroom with a bath and toilet. There are 3 double beds upstairs in the loft. There is also a caravan

• Large kitchen and braai facilities available

• Fires will be available

NOTICE OF RACE/SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The Regatta is organized by the Stilbaai Yacht Club under the auspices of South African Sailing (SAS).

1 RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2013 - 2016.

1.2 The South African Sailing Requirements and the SAS Northern Region Bylaws will apply.

1.3 Boats participating in this regatta shall conform to the Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS) 2013 - 2016, the Class Rules of the Relative class, this Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions.

1.4 RRS 44.1 will be changed so that the two- penalty is replaced by the one turn penalty.

Other changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.

2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1 In accordance with the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Regulation 19 (Eligibility Code), all competitors (Helmspersons and all other crew) shall be members in good standing of a Yacht Club affiliated to and in good standing with South African Sailing or their Member National Authority in the case of non-South Africans. The Yacht Club name and membership details shall be stated on the entry form or crew list. Current valid South African Sailing Membership Cards or similar proof of MNA Membership in cases of non-South Africans shall be presented at Registration.

3.2 The regatta forms part of the SYC Summer League.

3.3 Eligible boats can enter online by logging onto the SYC website info@stilbaaiyachtclub.co.za. The regatta secretary will make further contact with you once you have registered.

5 SCHEDULE

5.1 Registration:

Online registrations are open until the 1st September 2017

5.3 Dates of racing:

09/09/2018 leaving SYC shore at 09.00.

Depending on the weather conditions this race can take 2 hours or 6 hours. The wind conditions will be monitored during the week and any change will be communicated to you at registration on Saturday morning 9th September at the skippers briefing.

10/10/2018 Fun sail back to Stilbaai Yacht Club starting at 09:00 from Letsatsi Bay after breakfast

8 VENUE

Racing will take place from SYC, Vaal Dam to Letsatsi Bay Vaal Dam

9 THE COURSES

The courses to be sailed will be a point to point course.

10 PENALTY SYSTEM

Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.

11 SCORING

11.1 Low Point System of Appendix A4 will apply.

11.2 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.

12 SAFETY

12.1 Yachts shall comply with their class buoyancy and safety requirements.

12.2 All competitors shall wear a personal buoyancy aid capable of supporting a 5 kg steel weight at all times while afloat in a yacht.

12.3 Wet or dry suits do not constitute adequate buoyancy!

12.4 Additional safety requirements may be set out in the Sailing Instructions.

13 SUPPORT BOATS

Coach or individual support boats shall be marked with a White Flag and shall remain no less than 150m from areas where boats are racing, between the Preparatory Signal and the last competitor finishing the race. Failure to comply shall result in action from the Protest Committee.

14 RADIO COMMUNICATION

Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction applies especially to, but not exclusively to mobile telephones.

15 PRIZES

Prizes, will be |awarded at the discretion of the race committee.

16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. Neither the Organising Authority nor its officials or other persons associated with the organisation of the event will accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

17 INSURANCE

Each participating boat is encouraged to carry sufficient valid third-party liability insurance to cover any liability arising during the event. SEM-05 for 2013-2016.
