STILBAAI YACHT CLUB - KEELBOAT CHALLENGE

NOTICE OF REGATTA&SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
a) The Organizing Authority is Stilbaai Yacht Club and SAS - Northern Region.
b) The race will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2017-2020, NKS rules and relevant class rules.
c) Yachts participating in this race shall conform to the Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS) 2017-2020.
d) All yachts shall conform to the safety requirements and regulations as laid down by SA Sailing. Scrutinizing will be at the discretion of the race committee.
e) All yachts over 9 meters shall be in possession of a valid COF (Certificate of Fitness).
f) At least one person on board all yachts over 9 meters shall be in possession of a valid skippers’ ticket.
g) Race communication on VHF,Channel 9.
h) This event does not have controlled event status and as such all skippers must ensure that they and their yachts conform to SAS and SAMSA requirements.
i) The Sailing Instructions will consist of the Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the Official Notice Board located on the Committee Boat.
2) ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
a) Races are open to all keel boats and multihulls of L.0.A. over 16 feet . Other yachts may enter only after written permission from the Race Committee is given.
b) All competitors shall be members of their class association, as required by their class, as well a yacht club affiliated to and in good standing with SA Sailing.
c) The Organizing Authority shall have the right but, not the obligation, to refuse entry to any yacht it deems to be unfit for this event.
3) ENTRY AND FEES
a) The Entry Fee is R 100.00: Late entry Fee of R 150.00 will be accepted at the bridge boat no later than 15 minutes before the start of the race.

The attached entry form to be handed in together with the late entry fee of R 150.00 in cash to be paid, to the Bridge Boat on the day of the race at least 15 minutes before the start of the race.If no fee is paid, or proof of payment received, the boat will be regarded as DNS. (Did Not Start)
4) START TIMES
a) No warning signal shall be made prior to 10:54.
a) All races shall be started using RRS Rule 26. The starting line will be between an ORANGE flag on the committee boat and a RED/ORANGE Start Buoy.
a) A distance race will be sailed as per course card below:
Between the mast of the committee boat and a white mark. North Bay Area
Muster - Leave To Starboard
Seal Point - Leave to Starboard
LDYC - Round to Starboard
Seal Point - Leave To Port
Mustern - Leave To Port

7) SHORTENING COURSE
a) The course maybe shortened in terms of (RRS) 32, in which case yachts are to finish between a “Mark of the Course” and a boat flying the “S” flag and a BLUE on station flag.
8) PRIZE GIVING
Prize giving will be at SYC, bring and Braai on Saturday Evening at 6.30pm

9) GENERAL INFORMATION
· SYC will provide courtesy moorings and a ferry service. Donations are welcome for this service
· Catering Bring and Braai, SYC will provide Salads, Rolls at R30pp
· Braai Packs will be made available
· Breakfast will be served at R55.00 per person
